A few weeks ago, editor Tanya Gold (@EditorTanya on Twitter and Instagram) started encouraging editors to get away from their desks to add a little motion in their lives. She sent a call out for editors to post pictures of their walks with the hashtag #StetWalk to inspire more of us to exercise because it is good for the body and good for the soul. Editors around the world started stepping up and joining in.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the term “Stet,” it means “let is stand” which is a fitting, grammarly name for this concept. You can read more about the origins here on the Grammar Girl’s blog.
Edmonton Editor Tracey L. Anderson encouraged local editors and writers to join in, adding a local flavour with #YEGStetWalk. I suggested that we could invite Edmonton area writers and editors to build up our community by walking together. We know there are plenty of us out there.
So this is it! Your official invitation to join us. We are closing the laptops and leaving the house to get some fresh air and (fingers crossed) sunshine. Tracey and I are hoping that there is enough interest to make this a monthly meetup and explore parks around Edmonton with a bunch of word nerds. Whether we have a crowd or it’s just the two of us, we will consider it a success.
When: July 14, 2019, 1 pm. Rescheduled from July 6 due to our interminable rain.
Who: You are welcome to join us:
If you are or wish to be a full-time, part-time, in-house, freelance, or just for fun editor or writer
If you write or edit fiction, non-fiction, business, technical, marketing, fanfic, or whatever else you choose
If you like words and grammar and want to hang around with like-minded people
Check your calendars and plan to come join us. And please share this post/image and invite all the writers and editors that you can. We look forward to walking with all of you!
